Imagine spending most of your early teens in poverty living in a garage with your divorced single mother. This is what this man had to go through, working as a coat checker from the age of 14 to help pay bills. Richard Desmond always had a passion for music, and his little savings eventually enabled him to open his own record shop, which overtime became several shops.
He eventually published the “International Musician” and “Recording world” magazines, which lead to him owning Express Newspapers and founding Northern & Shell, which publish OK! Magazine, the Daily Star and the Daily Express. Hard work and his passion for music paid off.
