Lost city of Heracleion (Mediterranean)
The Egyptian city of Heracleion was thought to be just a legend, lost to the sea over 1200 years go. Rediscovered in 2000, scientist are stating to uncover what life was like in the legendary port of Thonis-Heracleion. The city is thought to have had extraordinary wealth, gold coins, 64 ships, bronze weights, as well as other antiquities have been discovered.
Most of the smaller artifacts have been found in thick clay, Submerged under 150 feet of water, while others are just resting in their original positions on the sea bed.
